Description
The Montana Rail Link has been a fan favorite since its creation in 1987. The railroad’s use of secondhand power, the incredible scenery, the mountain grades, and easy access have kept bringing railfans back.
In January, 2022, a press release was issued by MRL’s parent company, Washington Corp., stating its intention to terminate its lease agreement with BN, now BNSF. Because of this, railfans from near and far made trips to Montana to say goodbye to one of the largest regionals in the country.
We made 2 trips in 2022, and we see the line from Billings all the way to Thompson Falls, catching as much MRL blue as possible. We see locals, mainline trains, and helper operations, as well as BNSF run-through trains. We see all the railroad’s EMD variants, like the GP9, GP35, SD40, and SD70ACe.
With so much action on this railroad, we couldn’t fit all of it in 2 hours, so we bring you all the action on 2 disks! Join us in our journey across Montana.
