Along the Black Hills Central

The Black Hills of South Dakota are one of the premiere tourist destinations in the United States. From Mount Rushmore, to wilderness expeditions, to museums and restaurants, there are a lot of activities that can be done. A very popular activity in the Black Hills is the 1880 Train, also known as the Black Hills Central.

This 10-mile, 45-minute one way tourist railroad sees thousands of passengers per year, and in this video we follow the train as it gets ready in Hill City, as it makes its way to Keystone, and its return to Hill City.

This railroad is as relaxing as it gets, and with a road following the tracks most of the way, it’s easy chasing! Join us as we follow a rare 2-6-6-2T mallet tank engine through some of South Dakota’s finest scenery!
