Description

When David Moffat set out to build a railroad between Denver, CO, and Salt Lake City, UT, he had a vision most would find strange. After years of building, Moffat had his railroad.

The line has changed hands since Moffat accomplished his feat, and in this program we’ll take a look at Union Pacific’s operations on the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision between Denver’s Union Station and East Portal from 2014 to 2019. Featured you’ll see trains carrying coal, oil, passengers, and general merchandise from the two railroads that operate regularly on the line: Union Pacific and BNSF.

In this program, you’ll see locomotives from all sorts of railroads, including UP, BNSF, CSX, KCS, Southern Pacific, Amtrak, as well as leasing companies. See tier-4 locomotives from both GE and EMD, with exclusive footage of EMD’s demonstator units testing, plus rare footage of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus train!

With many all-day trips to the line, we feature trains in all kinds of weather, from sun to several feet of snow, for non-stop variety. This is mountain railroading at its finest, so join us for our journey west!
