Description
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad wanted to do something special for their 50th anniversary, something that couldn’t be duplicated anywhere else. This resulted in a gathering of locomotives all built before 1900, the Victorian era.
The railroad recently finished a restoration of D&RG 168, built in 1883, had DRGW 315 (backdated to D&RG 425) on lease, built in 1895, and brought in the Eureka & Palisade #4 and the Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Co #1, “Glenbrook,” both built in 1875.
A week-long celebration ensued, with special charters running out of Antonito and Chama, with destinations all across the railroad. Hundreds of people made the trip to see these machines in action, and we were there for the entire 8 days, both riding and chasing trackside.
Join us as we spend an entire week in narrow gauge country!
