Description
While the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum has a lot of neat equipment, the stars of the show are Southern steam engines #630 and #4501. Several times every year, they run their popular “Summerville Steam Specials,” a 102-mile round trip between Chattanooga, TN, and Summerville, GA.
These trains depart the Grand Junction station at 9 AM and arrive in Summerville just after lunchtime, then they turn and service the locomotives before making the return trip, arriving back at the station around 6 PM.
The museum also has an impressive collection of historical diesels and passenger coaches, many of which we see in this program.
People travel from near and far to see these locomotives in action, so join us as we follow Southern steam!
